Mom & I and the ladies loved it!
Kids and men didn’t care for it.
Make it for a ladies’ Christmas parties
I needed a punch for an office party, so tried it out on my book club (all ladies) first, it met with raves because it is not sweet, rather tart. For the office party I will cut down on the lemon juice, only use 1 cup instead of 1 1/2; this should make it palatable to everyone.
We’ve made this recipe every Christmas for the past few years. It is BIG in flavor — complex, in fact — so it’s not for the faint of heart who prefer bland. We use Reed’s Ginger Beer which kicks it up another level of flavor.
This recipe has been in my mother’s cookbook since 1961. Talk about a classic. We’ve enjoyed it every Christmas since.
