If you long for the days of penny candy, Moxie, and all things old-fashioned New England, Zeb’s General Store in North Conway, NH, is the place for you. It’s reminiscent of simpler times while still offering all the foods, gifts, and specialty items one could want. Wander the multilevel store, maneuver your way around antique fixtures, indulge at the candy counter, and browse the largest collection of New England–made specialty foods at this popular store in the heart of North Conway Village. Zeb’s is named after Zebulon Northrop Tilton, the captain of a coastal schooner from the late 1800s to 1940, and the store itself opened in 1991 with the goal of offering a wide range of hard-to-find nostalgic items. 1. This is another one of those emotion over reason kind of places. Make sure you check the expiration dates on everything you buy, some of them are old enough to qualify this place as an authentic general store. As far as the pricing goes it’s higher than WalMart, so you can forget the general store line there. It is an unfortunate thing that authentic places like a general store are gone because the most important thing they offered was the personal contact with people and your not going to find that here on a normal touristy day.

  2. Few years ago, I go to North Conway at Zeb’s General Store. It was fantastic, I lived in Switzerland and we don’t have a store like this. I bought some things before come back in my country.
When we return in your beautiful land, specially in New England, I return in North Conway and also in a wonderful place in Vermont : Vermont Country Store.
Thank you for this, I love your paper.

  3. Fabulous place! the selection is amazing. Lots of hard to find old candies and gadgets. We must have spent nearly 2 hours looking around!
