Classic Clam Dip
Made with just three simple ingredients, this just might be the easiest (and most delicious) clam dip recipe ever.

Classic Clam Dip
Photo Credit: Aimee TuckerMaking clam dip with cream cheese, minced clams, and Worcestershire sauce is an easy way to whip up a batch of this old-school party favorite. In fact, it just might be the simplest (and most delicious) clam dip recipe ever.
Ingredients
2 6.5 oz. cans Snow’s Bumble Bee minced clams in clam juice
2 8 oz. packages cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Cut the softened cream cheese into large blocks and place into a large mixing bowl. Drain one can of minced clams and add them to the bowl, then add contents of second can (clams and juice together). Add Worcestershire sauce. Stir until thoroughly combined. Cover and chill, preferably overnight, until ready to serve.
This classic clam dip recipe is thick, so be sure to serve it with a hearty ridged chip (such as the Lay’s Wavy or the Cape Cod Waves variety).
I have used this clam recipe for years and always add 1/2 tsp of garlic powder..
We’ve made this for years! We also add a little garlic and minced onion!yum!
I was reading the comments and thought a bit of crushed garlic might be a great addition. 🙂
My favorite dip. I always add a tablespoon of grated onion. So good!
Add green onions and garlic salt
Love ur recipes
I can’t wait to try this !!
U can thin out the cream cheese with a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt, nice zing & better texture
How do I print the wanted recipes can not print them out anymore thanks
Hi there. You’ll find a green print button above the recipe photo. Happy cooking!
Loved this over 50 yrs ago. Long time since I last had it. Thank you.
What if I’m using fresh. Is it soft shell clam or is it made with small or medium quahogs. Sorry. I always see the recipes. I’m native to New England. Some parts of the country don’t know the difference
You also make it with sour cream, drained clams and some onions. Use the clam juice to get the consistency you desire.
I, like some of the other folks, would add some kind of onion and garlic flavors to this recipe. Not being a fan of worcestershire, I’d sub in soy sauce.
Song with the 1/2tsp garlic powder I squeeze some fresh lemon juice to the mix
My mom used to make this on special occasions. This takes me back more than 50 years. I can’t wait to make it for the holidays.
We always add about 3 tablespoons horseradish
I make this with half the amount of cream cheese and clams, add ketchup ,worcestershire , garlic powder ,lemon juice, some of the clam juice to thin, and minced onion if desired. My family has been making this for over 50 years. serve with potato chips.
Thankyou for bringing this back; I used to love this clam dip, but kind of got away from it when I moved to California! UGG
I so miss the New England way of cooking! I enjoy seeing these recipes! I remember putting a smig of Tabasco in our Clam Dip! Gives it a kick!
My family loves this recipe. They swoop right in and it’s gone in a flash.
They sure do, Maureen! And it sure is! 🙂
I made this old standby on Christmas Eve for one of the seafood dishes for The Feast of Seven Fishes. Big hit! We use Louisiana Hot Sauce , Lea and Perrins and sprinkled with finely chopped scallions.
Thank you for this idea, I now plan to add this dish to my Feast of the Seven Fishes.
I use sour cream clams some juice, lemon, garlic powder tabasco and worchestshire
Next time try lobster or crab meat instead of the clams… Mmmm mmmm good..
I also use some sour cream along with the cream cheese, fresh crushed garlic, Lea and Perrins Worcestershire, chopped onion and minced clam with just a little juice. And the key is to let it sit refrigerated overnight. All the flavors meld together and it is just delish!
I add crushed pepper, Chipotle Habanero sauce, a couple cloves of garlic, seasalt and a bit of horseradish. Everyone loves it.
I forgot also a cube of melted butter
Sounds very yummy!
I prefer clam dip made with sour cream in lieu of the cream cheese.
To this I also add some Old Bay seasoning. gonna go make a batch now. Yum
By adding a “cap full of lemon juice” and my tsp of homemade chili sauce,it makes the dip FANTASTIC. Have been lamking this way for 40-50 years.
I am going to try each one of these. Yum!!!!!
my mom made this for us during the holidays 65yrs. ago its the best!
This has been my favorite since I was a kid when my mom made it for the holidays love this recipe. Am going to try some of the additions mentioned here.
Love this dip, been making for over 50 years with a little lemon juice and garlic added. My grand children expect it at every family gathering.
Exactly! Those were the two missing ingredients! So yummy!
Memories of Christmas in New England.
This recipe is a nice simple one, as are the additions suggested, but I always use the recipe for Clam Digger’s Dip on the side of the can of Snow’s chopped clams.
My mother always made this dip and we always loved it, she also made a shrimp dip with cream cheese and One of those little shrimp cocktail glasses they sold at he grocery store, I make it with cream cheese, chopped shrimp, and some cocktail sauce. Similar but different! Also a family fave.
I make it with lemon juice,, garlic and 1 1/2 cup sour cream. My family loves it at all ffamily gatherings.
What is your recipe
Sounds really good
I think you meant Snows or Bumblebee , not Snows by Bumblebee?? Two separate brands!
Also, always add a TBS of fresh squeezed lemon juice!
Bumblebee Bee bought Snows. Both names are now on the clams.
I have made my own Clam Dip for over 60 years. I use a can of chopped or minced clams and save the juice. I cream 1 block of Cream Cheese with 1 can of Cream of Onion Soup and add the clams after mixing. If it’s too thick, you can add a few drops of clam juice for flavor and sprinkle in some fresh parsley. Pass the chips or what you prefer to eat with the dip. Enjoy.
